Chapman ML-1

I just bought a Chapman ML-1 mahogany body maple neck rosewood finger board and I was wanting to change out the bridge humbucker. I play metal and thrash mostly in drop d or tuned a whole step down. My amps are a Laney Ironheart and a Peavey 5150. Any ideas or has anyone put a better pu in this guitar? I really don't like the one that came in it. Also I believe it would be a short leg trem bucker.

Re: Chapman ML-1

What is it you dislike about the stock humbucker?
What do you want out of a new pickup? (can you supply a tone from an album/song as a reference)

Re: Chapman ML-1

If I recall correctly, the stock Chapman Guitars humbucker on the ML-1 is based on the SH-/TB-4. Thus, if you do not care for the current sound, the TB-4 should be eliminated from your enquiries.

The Guitarnivore sounds nothing like a JB. It is sorta cloudy sounding. I play a lot of Thrash amd metal some blues.

thrash, metal, and blues sounds like a Custom, to me.

I'd go with the regular Custom, as it's got a good amount of aggression and chunk for thrash and metal, with great clarity and some nice sizzle. sounds good clean, too. If the ceramic mag is too "stiff" feeling, the Custom is easy to swap mags and experiment. I liked an Alnico 8 and an UOA5 in mine.

Great starting point, anyway.
