I have a Charvel electric guitar, that i assume is Model 5, but previous owner replace the jt6 tremolo with some cheap licensed floyd. everything else on a guitar, pickups, tuners is made by jackson. the serial number is C 803826 and is written on the last fret of the guitar. can i identify that serial number on the internet and how? i never do this before.. i am asking myself if the guitar is too old to even identify on the net?

Re: Charvel guitar identification

Post pictures and i will tell you what i think.

That serial will indicate its a 1987 but that's the most you will find out from it. before that they didn't have the serial number on the fretboard so it is 87 and if the rest of the specs match a model5.

Even the most obscure thing can be found on the internetz, young Daniel-san.

Post it, and we will provide the answer.

Re: Charvel guitar identification

There are guitar companies twice the age of the Charvel brand and people have no problem identifying them ;)

Re: Charvel guitar identification

Pictures are needed. Make sure you get the headstock and neck plate (if there is one, if its a model 5 there wont be).

IF it is a model 5 or 6, then its a 1988. Those models actually had serial numbers that directly show the year.

Re: Charvel guitar identification

Well, it looks like Model 5 except for the tremolo and type of locking nut, but previous owner said that tremolo has been replaced. it's a neck through, jackson tuners, jackson pickups with mid boost pot control, so it's just like Model 5. i searched a little and found out that it's 1988 made. on headstock it says by jackson/charvel. frets are in really good condition for near 30 years old guitar.. the tremolo will be replaced with Schaller in the near future. i'll post some pictures soon. the color is wine red.
