Charvel Guitar

Hi,

I have had my Charvel for a few years now. It was bought for me by my grandfather in a used music shop in Sweden about 4/5 years ago.

However, i've never really known what guitar it is.

I pulled the pickups out once and they are j100 single coils and a j90c humbucker and i have the original case, but i don't know what model the guitar is/where it is made/how old it is.

I don't like the current pickups and the frets most likely need to be redone on the guitar as well as a well needed setup.

Here are some pictures i've attached.

Would anyone be able to provide me with more information about my guitar?

Re: Charvel Guitar

Close but i think its a 375 deluxe

Japan made, For the record i think this era of charvel are one of the best. I own 2 both around 89 and they are great quality.

Thanks for the info guys! Good to know a bit more about the guitar.

I'm thinking of swapping out the pickups/electronics in this over the summer and also looking at having it re-fretted as they are very worn at this point.

I'm also assuming that this would be an Asian made guitar? Hopefully Japan?

Would this have been a sort of intermediate players guitar at the time?

That's good to know!

I think I will look into have it re-fretted and then replacing the neck and bridge pickup/electronics and sand down the back of the neck to get it playing/sounding as best as possible

i actually dont mind those j90c pups

Re: Charvel Guitar

Those J100s are very nice Single Coils. I've had them in a couple guitars and always thought they had character and sounded like a single coil shoul IMHO.

Re: Charvel Guitar

Nice Charvel. I have a red American Special exactly like the one in the middle. It looks like you kept the stock pickups. What are your thoughts on the Tex-Mex and DH-1?

Yup, that's my Strat! Factory special run for Guitar Center if i remember correctly.

I like the pickups in it actually and it plays nicely. Have been considering putting lace sensors in it though. Only annoying thing i find is that the bridge pickup is always a lot louder than the singles.

Re: Charvel Guitar

I would suggest a sustain block upgrade to a big brass one ,I always considered putting EMG's into my 650xl ,but the block made all the change I needed
