Cheap & Fun - Marshall MG10KK

I have a nice mini-stack with a tube head but wanted something small to drag around the house etc. I found this 10W Marshall on Craigslist for $30 -

What a great little amp.
Clean and dirt channel, headphone jack and line in for MP3 jam alongs...

I'm sure there's a ton of low power amps out there with some great options, but for the price I paid it made this stand out as a great and lucky buy!

You could've gotten my MG10 for free if you had bought one of my old Fender cabs.

The thread is in the Trading Post on this very forum!

Those things definitely don't sound bad, but i find that in order to get them to sound even close to good enough to use you have to turn them up as loud as my half stack on 2 with good pedals...and since i spent the money on the stack...i just use that :smokin:

speaking of small endorsed amps - how's that kirk hammett randall in your shop sound? I'm guessing not very good.

^^ It makes you sound, play, look, and smell and act like Kirk Hammett

so yeah it's ****in terrible

Re: Cheap & Fun - Marshall MG10KK

I owned a MG15 DFX... what a sh*tty amp. One day I connected the amp to an Orange closed cab loaded with Vintage 30. It sounded a bit better and I got nice cleans, but the distortion was cr*p.
Since I own a tube amp I realized how horrible was the marshall MG15.

I knew this would be a fun can of worms to post up.
Trust me I know the amp isn't even a diamond in the rough - but at low volume and with headphones on it's doing a fine job.

Usually I'll spend way more than $30 on something and have it fall short of my expectations. This was just a rare happening that I got more that I planned on.

Sometimes I peruse the used sections hoping to find some tiny little solid-state amp that would make a nice beater for... oh, under $80. I understand what you see in it. Does anything else qualify?
