sOOOO..was interested in this neck. 12" radius neck off the Hot Rod Tele. Just about nthe very best neck on the market. Would blow away a USACG (easily) or Warmoth premium neck IMHO.
But 550.00 bucks? Thats a bit much.I was wanting one to put on my American Standard body. That 12" radius and the premium wood neck from Fender are 1st rate..can't be matched..but thats too much, you can find a whole used one for somewhere over 1000-12000. ;

If it blows USACG and Warmoth stuff out of the water, it must be worth that price tag.

Re: cHECK THIS OUT..550.00 BUCKS FOR A USED tELE NECK!

^well, I DID say "IMHO"...and IN MHO, people arent ideiots, at least not the ones forking over 500 bucks for a Fender neck.
IMHO Fender has deep pockets to source the very best wood for their premium necks, and also have the best crafstmanship, and your not paying $200 extra for a 15.00 decal.

Put THAT in your smike and pope it.

( wheres my 'shut up Jerry' pic?)

I don't know man, $500 for a maple neck? How much better is the wood than the regular American line? You can get a much more tonally and visually exciting neck that will play just as well from USACG/Warmoth with exotic woods. At that price range, you can get a really nice neck from them.

(Now, for some entertainment. I hope you like Parks and Rec. All in good fun :P)

haha..exotic sure. Fender doesnt really do exotic .Yes,the tonewood is much better. You don't know where the trees are, what part of the tree. Thats not a pseudo-science. Its real, and its what you are paying extra for. That and the quality of finish Yes, even Maple. Its not just generic. You get what you pay for.
Believe what you want. No one is gonna pay 500 bucks for a normal premium Warmoth Maple neck.Why?..cause it doesnt have a little decal? I think not.

Re: cHECK THIS OUT..550.00 BUCKS FOR A USED tELE NECK!

No one should be paying $500 for a maple neck. Do you really think they sound that much better? I also really doubt Fender is so particular about their wood that they source it down to a particular part of the tree. If they did, wouldn't they also get it quartersawn to add stability?

I'm sure it's a fine neck, but could you tell the difference from the tone of one of the cheaper Fender necks? I really doubt it.

Re: cHECK THIS OUT..550.00 BUCKS FOR A USED tELE NECK!

I wouldn't even consider over $175 for it. Might have something to do with me and my preference for a rounder radius, but anything over $200 just sounds like a ridiculous amount to me.

Smarter words have never been said on this forum.

I paid $200 for my MIM neck. The only reason I went that high is it came with OEM locking tuners. I figure that saved me $100-$80 on my build seeing locking tuners were already in the plan.

I sold a USA San Dimas Charvel neck plate for over $600.
I sold a USA Charvel ProMod neck for $480 (when they first came out in 2008 - first one to hit Ebay!).

Stupid people are out there, you just have to wait for them to part with their money.

Re: cHECK THIS OUT..550.00 BUCKS FOR A USED tELE NECK!

Maybe the top-line necks have consistency of grain, or a certain distance between grain lines. Certainly a lot of specialist luthiers set store by testing tap tones, and wood matching. Perhaps wood to the custom shops gets there by these methods.

Re: cHECK THIS OUT..550.00 BUCKS FOR A USED tELE NECK!

Absolutely absurd price for a plain maple neck. That is almost the same price as what i had been selling body and neck, SET NECK combos of mine. which blow any fender garbage out of the water.
I am extremely anti fender anyway, but that is just insane.
