Chime Alert!

So I've replaced my neck pickup with a Phat Cat and my bridge with a Quarter Pound in my CIJ 52RI Tele. All I can say is, WOW does this baby have chime! I also swapped out my 250 volume pot with a 500k.

I'm going to see how this thing grows on me, but I may go back to a 250k. I miss some of the mellowness I had before making all the changes...especially when I play clean.

I've got a great deal of quality mid-rang with this set up, which I like. It's not to harsh and really crunches with the overdrive on.

Oh yeah, I also changed the magnets in the PC to an A4/A5 combination.

I may have over done it a bit on making too many changes at one time!

I know I like the QP way better than what I had in the bridge before hand....way fatter sounding with some girth to spare.

I'll keep you guys posted on how things develop. I believe these two pickups are a good pairing. It's just going to take some time to tweak the little things like pickup height and so forth.

The A5/A3 is even chimier than the A5/A4. The A5/A3 is probably best in mahogany & darker, more porous woods. Either way, you get an open quality that you can't get from a neck HB.

Good to know. What would the traditional A5/A5 result in? I didn't even mess with the original A2/A2 that came with the PC. Probably should have, but you guys got me excited about magnet swapping so I just did it.

You said it SRS. Very nice combo. I love the P90 sound. Much more open that a HB in the neck. As I said though....got to do some minor tweaking.
