Re: Chords for blues/jazz

Tried Maj6 yet? mDom?
Cmaj6= CEGA
Aminb7= GACE
whoa same notes different order makes different chord.
I like minors and Dom alot for blues...and I will Augment all sorts of places.

Don't forget the harmonic possibilities of having your bassist play notes that aren't in the guitar chord.

Re: Chords for blues/jazz

For blues it's usually 7ths, 9ths, and maybe 13ths. Jazz is anything goes though. m7b5s, maj 7ths, min 6ths, diminished chords, inversions of every type . . . chord substitution is a life long study.

Get a copy of Chord Chemistry and Guitar Lore. If you are running out of ideas w all of the possible inversions and chord types you are either not trying hard enough or need to bone up on your theory and arranging. Also check out poly chords and tetra chords.

Not really running out of ideas, just need something new to give my music a little spice, I'm interested in chords that I can play in the place of a 7th 9nth or 13th chord.
