Chorus on dirty channel

I was listening to Ozzy's No more tears album, Zakk has this great overdrive and you can hear the chorus pedal giving him that sweet sound. How come every chorus pedal I have tried just sounds so muddy on the dirty channel? I have tried several different pedals and they just sound like my guitar is out of tune. It sounds incredible on the clean channel... any suggestions? my gear i am using is listed below

THANKS

Re: Chorus on dirty channel

Have you got the chorus pedal in the effects loop? That's where it will sound best - i.e. after the pre-amp distortion.

Re: Chorus on dirty channel

you might have to tone down the rate and depth because you wont want as mcuh of this as you have on your clean channel

Re: Chorus on dirty channel

I LOVE a good chorus or Flanger and I run ALL my pedals up front...I neveer really have that problem...What kind of chorus, I didn't see one listed.

Re: Chorus on dirty channel

Turn all the controls on the unit down, Dial up your distortion and tweak
the knobs so it colors the sound. You don't want a wobblie sound just
a suitle hint of the effect. This sound was pioneered by Tom Shotlz of
Boston in the 70's. :D

Re: Chorus on dirty channel

Set it to the slowest it can go. Chuck Schuldiner did this on leads as well, and it sounds ****ing amazing. Run the pedal infront of the amp.

Re: Chorus on dirty channel

sounds great with the built in distortion on my line6... adds tons of depth. and sounds really 80s.

Re: Chorus on dirty channel

I'd recommend turning the actual volume of the effect down as well as the speed of the depth.

Re: Chorus on dirty channel

i will try this, the pedals i have used so far are the Ibanez sc9 reissue, boss ce3, ch1, the new dunlop yellow chorus pedal. I think I just need to tweek a little more....
