Christmas Pedal Suggestion Box

Re: Christmas Pedal Suggestion Box

There are thousands of pedals out there, so it really depends on what you're looking for. .

Hell I wish I knew what I was looking for. I'm just getting random suggestions from people and looking them up (reviews, clips, site etc) and seeing if there are any that really hold my interest.

So far I really like the look of the OCD and Zvex Box of Rock, I don't know how much the Zvex costs, but the OCD might be a bit too much.

Also besides the rocktron short timer delay, what are some other nice delays?

Re: Christmas Pedal Suggestion Box

Carl Martin has a delay for $100 (Red Repeat).

It's not for everything, but I really dig my MXR Phase 90.

The Tubulator is a great sounding pedal, and the price is absurdly low. However, it's construction leaves alot to be desired. That's where the Digitech Bad Monkey comes in. Check it out.

The "Vexter" version of the BOR (the one in the video) is $200 new. The hand painted one is $300.

I knew that anything that sounded that good would Involve selling my teenage unemployed soul...

What's the difference in Phasers between a Small Stone Phaser, and a Phase 90?

Re: Christmas Pedal Suggestion Box

You need to go try out both phasers. In a nutshell, the Small Stone is a deeper effect. Think old Van Halen for the Phase 90, and Smashing Pumpkins/Korn for the Small Stone.

Re: Christmas Pedal Suggestion Box

The Boss DD-20 is the ultimate delay. If you just want specific things, and would not use all of the cool features of the DD-20, there are others out there worth considering.

Re: Christmas Pedal Suggestion Box

I tried desperately to like this pedal . . . and there are some good metal sounds that you can get from it. I definitely wouldn't say that it's versatile though. The lowest gain setting is very heavy distortion with no dynamics (although you can get a sort of Satisfactiony-fuzz tone out of it), and you can only add gain from there. The EQ is almost too flexible, the slightest change can take a good setting and turn it to crap . . . which was a big PITA if you wanted to use the pedal for more than one sound in a gig. Live you can make it cut through, but I definately don't think that the pedal is for everyone.

yeah the EQ can change a lot of the sound with the slightest change. And its definitely not that easy to change settings during a gig. But for my application, I was using one sound the whole time during a show. I would mess with it in my room to get different sounds and play around.

To TimmyPage: Its probably worth just going to guitar center or something and checking it out on your own guitar and stuff because I have noticed that people are usually for it or against it, but not really in between. Just a suggestion. you might like it.
