Circuit diagram needed for EMGs

Hi guys
Trying to put in some EMG's into my ibanez rg.
Was wondering if anyone would be able to draw me up a circuit diagram to have EMG 81/85 with also a passive single coil with only one volume and one tone pot? My main problem is how to wire up the 5 way switch just can't find anything to show me what to do.
Thanks

not possible with the same volume/tone.. actives use ~25K pots but passives use 250-500+K pots
..
Posible I could be wrong but i dont think I am

Re: Circuit diagram needed for EMGs

Would it be possible to keep the passive on full volume without using a pot? And have the pot just control the emgs

Re: Circuit diagram needed for EMGs

I don't want the middle all the time I just don't ever use volume controls and could just switch off it on the selector

Not such a good idea either... a single coil straight the jack sounds brutally bright and trashy. At minimum your going to need to add some resistors to the signal path to make it sound ok.

A workable idea is to just wire it all through 250k pots, Your single will sound fine on its own and will work with the tone and volume controls.

The downside is throw any hopes of combined tones out the window. 2 of your 5 positions will be largely unusable. Your 1 and 5 positions with the EMGs will sound fine but the tone and volume will work effectively as on off switches with no sweep available. The loss of the 2 and 4 notch positions is huge. Swapping from a 81 to a lone middle single will sound weak and tinny.

As for the wiring its simple... Either you will have to use old EMGs without the quick connects or you will have to cut them off and get a normal switch. Then just solder your hots to the switch your grounds to ground and the red wire to the battery.

But in this instance iam going to advise against it. Just get a middle EMG and ditch the idea of the passive middle. The SAV's particluarly the SAVX's do a good single coil tone that will match up ok without the issues, you will be able to use all the positions on your switch and the tone and volumes if you desire.

You'll also need a super hot single, or the EMG's will drastically over-power it.

As far as wiring it, just use a diagram for passives. Other than the red wire going to the stereo jack, it's the same.
