Ok, is there a Marshall tube amp that would give me the classic Marshall tone but without the cost?? - I'm talking about something smaller and quieter than the JCM800 2555 that I dream of
Even a 10-20watt amp would do as long as the tone is sweet - is there any such amp??
Marshall has just started doing reissues of their old low wattage tube amps - 18w and 20w I think. But they are point-to-point hand wired and expensive - you'd probably get a used 2555 cheaper!
The cheapest Marshall tube amp is probably the DSL201 combo:
I jammed with a guy who was using a DSL401 a while ago and it sounded great.
Another possibility is a used JTM30 or JTM60. They crop up on Ebay from time to time and have some great classic rock tones.
For low volume practising I make do with my Roland Cube 30 - no, it's not a Marshall, but it has a great range of tones and features for a very modest price. I paid £154.
