Classic Rock and Blues

Hey, i want to focus my playing on these two genres and i was wondering what kind of techniques, songs or anything else i should know about them should i learn and also get my teacher to teach me. (for blues i was thinking more along the lines of Robert Johnson and some more psychedelic blues/rock like clapton and hendrix)

Make sure you know the 12 bar blues - how to play it, alternative arrangements / inversions of it etc. Learn the pentatonics and practice them like hell until you know what the note you're gonna play in it sounds like before you've played it - that's the key to improvisation. Then learn all the different notes that can be added to the pentatonic for a bluesier sound (b5, 6ths, etc).
