Classic Stack install question - Direct-Mount

I'm building a guitar without a pickguard. I noticed that the Classic Stack have some metal grommets on the ears of the pickup. Seems like it's fine for a pickguard, but will it work for direct-mounting?

Also, how can I go about getting different pickup covers for this pickup? Will standard ones fit? Does SD have some I can purchase? It's white, I'd like to get black if possible.

I think you should have no problem direct mounting them. After all there are many Jacksons that have them that way. About the cover, I COULD be wrong but I think that you can't replace the cover... Better make sure though...
If you can then I think that SD does have covers but any generic one (with proper pole piece spacing) should do fine...

You'll need to use a smaller diameter screw than normal or else remove or ream out the grommet since the grommet is threaded for a standard size pickup mounting screw...but its do-able.

The covers cannot be replaced. The whole thing is sealed together. I don't think they are available in black.
