Classic stack plus!!! JB Jr or Lil Screamin Demon in bridge with?

I tried some classic stack plus in my Tyler Studio Elite today to replace the old classic stacks...WOW!!

They sound almost identical to the surfers in my 62 alder with rosewood RI strat. Only no hum, no squeal, etc...

I think I am going to pick up 2 more of these neck and middle and put in my 62 RI strat to quiet it down..I have a couple of single coil sized humbuckers lying around (JB JR and Lil Screamin Demon) to put in the bridge...WIll take some shoe polish to them to age the pickups covers..

Advice or thoughts on lil screamin demon vs. JB Jr in the bridge of this guitar for blues/alternative/hard rock stuff?

I've heard good things about the JB bridge with the new Stack + in the neck/middle. You might want to try the JB Jr in the bridge. I don't think the Lil Screamin' Demon would be a good mix with the Stack +, anyway.

You may need to try them both. I played a Lil demon for years with single coils and it worked great. The demon is a little lower output. That said I really like the JBjr too, its a little brighter and changes your tone a little more than the demon but has sweet mids and harmonics.

cool...Thanks for the input so far...The only thing weird I notice is that when in the neck position, I can't get 5th fret harmonics unless I move to neck and middle..I wonder if pickup heigth or ? I am able to get harmonics above 5th fret...Also wonder if I may need neck adjustment....

I have tried both combinations in my MIM Strat, and strongly recommend the Screamin Demon.

The JB is too loud and overpowers the Classic Stack Plus. In order to get balanced volume, you have to lower the JB down so low that you lose a lot of the tone. Either that, or you have to raise the stacks so high that the magnets pull the strings out of tune.

The Demon is a great match for the Classic Stacks, both volume and tone. Contrary to what the name implies, the Screamin Demon s not uber-high output. The output works with the stacks beautifully. The tone of the Demon has a lot of Stratty character to it, just with a lot more low-mid grunt than a single coil.

Mine is hooked up with a "super switch." In position 4, it turns the STK-S4's into SSL-1's by cutting the dummy coils out of the circuit. The sound is gaw-JUS!! The auto-split Demon combined with the Split STK-S4m quacks like a duck in heat. My only complaint is that I do get little bit of hum in that position. You might want to try not cutting the coils (unless the Sweet Home Alabama sound is worht a little buzz to you.) Definitely get the Super Switch though - position 4 is worth it!

Sorry to ramble. Did not mean to write a novel. In all seriousness though, get the Demon. It works GREAT with the stacks!!!

The Lil Screamin Demon is a great match with the Classic Stack Plus in the neck and middle. I know, I use that exact setup. 500k pots all around. I have a push/pull as well to split them all (for the stacks it actually just disengages the smaller hum canceling coil). The lower tone is also a no-load pot wired to blend in the neck so I can get a neck+bridge tone. It's a great setup. Highly recommended.

I started with a Lil' Demon. I liked it, but the ceramic magnet and narrow field was pulling me out of tune. I ended up swapping it for a full sized Demon trembucker and haven't looked back. The little one is a very, very good pickup; but the big one is fan-f*cking-tastic! I am glad I spent a few extra bucks to get the HSS pickguard.

I love the little demon for hard rock and dirty alternative stuff. I've had one in my MIJ strat for a while. I tried a bunch of other single coil strat-buckers over the years and the Demon takes the cake for me.

I have a full-size Demon too paired up with a Slash neck. It was set up with the 2 Classic Stack Pluses for a while until I decided to go back to HH in that guitar. Then I assembled another Strat and utilized the pickups I had on hand, the Lil Demon and 2 stacks. I agree though, the full-size Demon is awesome.

Ironic that you mention that combo, I had a Demon A2Pro combo in a Destroyer for a while. They worked pretty well together for me.

And custom stack plus with Lil' Screaming Demon? Is better of Classic Stack Plus or higher than?

Custom Stack Plus is a lot louder and a lot darker than Classic Stack plus. By the time you EQ'ed ypur amp to get the mud out of the Custom Stack Plus, the Demon would sound waaaaaaaay too bright. I think that Custom Stack Plus neck and middle pickups would probably get along better with a Custom Custom, which is a lot louder and darker than the Demon.
