Classic Stack Plus STK-4Neck 'OR' Cool Rails for Strat SCR-1Neck

I am looking for a moderate pickup in the neck position which is sensitive to my legato playing and can throw some dynamics with good sustain.
In the bridge position it's JB SH-4 which is very good. Which is the best match..STK-4Neck (ALNICO) or SCR-1Neck (Ceramic) ? I have a dear passion for ALNICOS but after reading the descrip. for Cool Rails, I am really confused.
I play Prog. Rock, Instrumental and love tones of Marty Friedman, John Petrucci, Alex Skolnick. Please suggest a right pickup for my style..

the classic stack + sounds very similar to a vintage strat pup, i love mine but i think the cool rails might be a better match for what you want.

Based on what you mentioned, I think you'd like the Cool Rails more because it's tighter under gain and is closer in sound to a neck humbucker. The hotter single coils still tend to be more strat-ish, like Yngwie or Blackmore.

Depends what you want out of the neck position. The Stack is going to be a traditional, single coil voice without the 60 cycle hum. The CR is going to be voiced along the lines of a brighter humbucker, like the Jazz.

Thanks my dears..CR 1Neck is a hot pickup??? I am already down with the Hotrails N which is in my neck position..so, please forget about "HOT". I need a moderate output pickup which has a High Mid and High in the upfront. I dont need the neck to be too bassy..Please help.

If you want fatter than a traditional single but don't qant something that's as bassy or hot as a PAF, Dimarzio's Fast Track 1 is an excellent choice.

I prefer the ssl5 with the JB bridge. It's warm, loud and not at all stratty. I like the classic stack with the hot stack bridge. I'm not yet a fan of the hot rails or cool rails, yet.
