Classical fingerstyle helps your picking technique?

I'm not going to call this fact but both my guitar teacher and I have found this to be the case. There just seems to be something in using your fingers individually that carries over into picking. I can't really explain it. I've been doing a lot more in the way of fingerstyle and it's really translated. More control, faster, you name it.

Anyone else found this to be the case?

I don't know but I could imagine that it can help.

I concentrated on alternate picking over some weeks and it get much better, I have more control now, not gonna say it's perfect but I didn't care so much for the left hand but foremost for the picking hand and it's working smoother now and I need less power..it's great and I'll work on.

But I didn't use classical finegrstyle..I'm not able to do it..either with a pick or Knopfler/Beck style.

Not the case for me. I do a lot of classical fingerstyle and i doesn't improve anything on my playing with a pick. Though learning flamenco fingerstyle greatly improved my bass playing.
