Classical guitar finish

hey guys,

a mate of my dad's wants to refinish an old ibanez classical guitar - i havn't seen it yet, but the guy really wants to bring some of the 'new' sheen back, i guess..

soo, what are nylon string usually finished in? are there any hard and fast rules with it?

according to this article, most hand made classical guitars are French polished:

Most of the times I see classical guitars they are always in a natural finish or a redish see through sort of finsih. I guess a stain.
