Cleaning Green Corrosion on Gold Plate

Hi,

I was hoping someone might be able to help me out. I have an '83 LP custom with gold plated pu covers. They have developed arather nasty green corrosion on theem. I can knock some of it off with the edge of my fingernail, but would like a better solution. Is there a polish that's safe for the gold plating that will take this green stuff off?

Most of the time anything you use to remove the corrision will remove the gold plate and thus, turn the item silver.

This happened when a buddy of mine used some polish on his tele.
