Clear Mystery Pickup

Well, it's a mystery to me anyway...

I bought a bunch of stuff from a guy that did repairs about ten years ago. While I sold or traded most of it over the years, I ran into the rest of it over the weekend (Damn, this garage is a wreck!) and started looking through it. While I recognized the 57 Humbuckings and whatnot, there was an unusual clear one with no markings that I don't know about and can't google up. So, this being the authoritive pickup scene I figured I'd ask if anyone knows what this is?

Mystery Pickup

Thanks in advance

JUST KIDDING!!! :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:
I have no clue! Probably a stock single for an old dept. store brand guitar.

Re: Clear Mystery Pickup

No, no, no! Isn't that a Gibson pickup from the 70's? There was a maple-bolt-neck, les Paul-shsped thing. The Marauder? Or the S-1? Whatever it was, it had three of those things in it. I think Paul Stanley endorsed them.

I think it's a stacked humbucker, too.

Rare? Yes. Interesting? Maybe. Valuable? Who knows? Strange things happen out there in eBay.

Here's a link...

Damn. Am I good or what? Just Google "Gibson S-1" and there you have it.

The fog continues to lift. I think Paul Stanley endorsed the Marauder, which was similar but had a pair of humbuckers, but in similar see-through plastic. I can't imagine Paul Stanley ever playing something as Strat-like as the S-1.

As you can see above, Ron Wood endorsed the S-1.

Re: Clear Mystery Pickup
