Clever Marketing Ploy????

I read an offical post from Gibson on Facebook today.

Gibson is have a Les Paul Giveaway on June 9th to celebrate the would-have-been birthday of Les Paul's 100th.

But here's the catch...

It's not a give away...

It's a reimbursement.

That's right, 1 out of every 10 Les Pauls sold on June 9th will be fully reimburesed.

So is it clever or just a sinster ploy?

I foresee a 9 out of 10 Les Pauls returned on June 10th.

Re: Clever Marketing Ploy????

Come off it. When did Gibson last have a clever marketing idea?

Re: Clever Marketing Ploy????

Ive seen this on a shops Facebook site, the only catch I can see is that has to be a 2015 model. The ONLY thing I didn't like about them is the wide neck when I tried one. I quite liked the Gforce thing and everything else. Oh I can't afford them anyway.

It's an interesting ploy. But not terrible. If you're thinking of getting an LP . . . do it. If you aren't, don't do it just based on this.

No harm, no foul.

Re: Clever Marketing Ploy????

I've come across this really dastardly marketing ploy......buy this little paper slip with random numbers on and you can win millions if the numbers match. Problem is, its not very likely.....and the paper itself is useless afterward if you don't win.

You don't find out if you won until early July well past the return date for most retailers. Come on you knew they would have that covered.

Fill out a 300 word essay on why you love your new Gibson before June 30th 2015

Yup, if you were planning on buying one that is allowed then now would be a great time to buy it as you might just get lucky :)

+1 To this, I know people who play just about daily...amazing to think how much money they could have if they invested all of those daily $'s

Ha! Not that marketing strategies are perfect by any means, but I"m sure this possibility was brought up when determining the timing of it all.
