coil split Duncan Stack louder than full hum mode?

I just wired up a Duncan stack pickup, the stk-s6 I believe, it's the one with the rail instead of polepieces. The single coil mode was louder than the full on mode when I used my splitter. I took another look at it to make sure I wired it correctly and I'm 99% sure I did. Whats the deal with this? Is the does the tapped version utilize the top coil, so when you go full on humbucker, the lower humbucker is quieter since it's further from the strings and balances it out? Or did I mess up somewhere?

That's totally standard, exactly the way it's suppose to be. The bottom coil basically loads the signal down a little, but has almost no sound. But on a side by side humbucker it's adding sound.
