coil split question

hi, im trying to wire a master vol master tone, 3 way selector switch (neck, mid, bridge) with 2 duncan humbuckers, using an on/off/on mini toggle to split the pickups.

i want the mini switch set up so that when it is up it splits the neck, middle nothing is split and down splits the bridge.

is it correct to wire each pickup like in the picture below with the red and white to the center lug and then ground from the bottom lug to the back of the pot? and viceversa on the other side for the other pickup?

im basically using a tele wiring diagram with 4 conductor humbuckers and taking the soldered together red and white leads and attaching them to the mini switch as described above.

is this correct?

thanks

and wire it the same way on a mini on/off/on? wiring each pickups' red and white together on each side of the mini switch and grounding each pole on the volume pot? no need to tie into the pickup hot lead to the pickup selector switch?

Re: coil split question

Since that diagram shows the pickup going straight to the volume pot and not part of a full switching system, you'd run the wire shown in the diagram that goes to the pot to its proper position on the pickup selector, be it bridge or neck.

If my memory serves me, with an On/Off/On, the center position does nothing unless jumped to one of the outer positions. There is no internal connection to either of the outer poles, as with an On/On/On.

Therefore, you should get the results by wiring the switch as shown.

However, there's also the possibility that you would have to wire each pickup to one of the outer poles and ground the free pole on that side to split them. Again, since the center poles are free, the middle should result in neither one being split.

Re: coil split question

okay thank you. i will wire it as the diagram shows and if that does not i will wire the hot pickup lead to the free lug on its way to the master switch.
