Ive posted this on 6 diff forum and not a awnser yet.
ok. im getting a Bill Lawrence L500XL for christmas to replace the duncan JB thats in My ESP m-II deluxe. right now, it has a 3way set up to coil tap in the middle position like a EBMM petrucci. Im gonna put in a pushpull volume knob (aka DPDT) for more options.standard coil tap ala satch models have wire no.1 grounded, wire 2 and 3 going to the DPDT,and 4 is the output.this cuts out the outer coils and i love the sound but how would i wire it to cut the inner coils thus giving me a wannabe tele sound
if this is a humbucker

and the numbers are each wire:
standard coil splitting has wire 1 grounded, wire 2 and 3 go togather to the DPDT,and wire 4 is output.
this cuts the outside coils giving a nice, sweet sound. I just want to get the outside coils(thus cutting the inside coils) and try that sound. I attended a Brian Moore guitar wrokshop and one of thier 5wayswitch guitars had this as one of the positions were the farthest coils are on.I want to know how to wire it this way.
And i your wondering why why im swappin g the JB . . .
The JB is a awesome pickup. very versitile.the bass response is a little flabby sometimes(for metal chugging) but im just want a very "juiced" sound. I like a very in-your-face rythum tone.bass on 5, mid and treble around 8 1/2.Thats my sound. I like a smoother lead sound, but i can get feedback from alot of diff amps a low volume with my sound. think of Dimebag's CFH lead tone crossed with Tom's (from Boston) middy sound.A spiked crybaby-in-1-position tone.I like that liquidy, midspike sound. I have a Crybaby 95Q(switchless) that has boost and Q control. the sounds i get are just rippin. I can get feedback so easy with the crybaby.I just stand at my pedal board and find the sweetspots for each note.
