Collaboration Track - 12 Bar Blues

I'm consolidating this to keep everything straight. If someone can get this stickyed that would be cool.

Here's the backing track I did that we're using:

http://soundclick.com/share?songid=7158344

Basic 12-bar blues in Bb, 100 BPM.

- Use a program like Reaper to add your solo track
- Email me or post up the solo track *without* the backing track
- If you want, post the complete track too
- After enough people do it, I (or someone else) can record a full-length backing track and layer everyone's solos over it.
- Profit!

A few things to keep in mind...

- it's not necessary to play over the entire length of the sample
- it's not necessary to play in the 'style' of the sample...it's just there for the chord changes, and the final backing track can accommodate it better
- it's not necessary to fit as many notes as possible into your track
- it's relatively necessary to match the tuning & tempo of the sample

So far we've got:

cream123: http://soundclick.com/share?songid=7162847
Jay 77: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_music.cfm?bandID=903998
tone4days: http://soundclick.com/share?songid=7165686

Tor: http://soundclick.com/share?songid=7174488
Alexander H: http://soundclick.com/share?songid=7177739

I figure we'll leave this going until we get around 8-10 solos, and then we'll move on to consolidating them.

Any other suggestions for this project are more than welcome.

Enjoy!

I'll see if I can put something together, probably tomorrow.. Got no time today.. :(

Re: Collaboration Track - 12 Bar Blues

So I guess this is the official thread for it then, huh.

Here's my take on it, it's only the first solo that's there.

Here's the link to just the solo.

Hopefully it'll fit in somewhere. If you would like the WAV files I worked on I can upload them somewhere and link you up.

Man this is fun!

Great stuff guys!

I will record my one note solo tomorrow if I have the time!

Re: Collaboration Track - 12 Bar Blues

very cool Al ... you hit the pocket solid and the tone, as always, is just drippin' .... always love to hear your playing

mark - you brought the rock, bro ... might fine riffage ...

still learnin - sweet tone .... liquidy! ... i like the way you move the beat around - sometimes laggin back and sometimes pressing into it

Thanks dude. A little sloppy - I need to drink more before I play.:barf:

btw. Alnico II Pro™ Staggered APS-1 in front position of one of my home-mades straight into the JCM - verb added in Sonar.

Re: Collaboration Track - 12 Bar Blues

very cool Tor ... you have a very musical bend / release style (w/ some bar action too, no?)

Re: Collaboration Track - 12 Bar Blues

Thanks a lot, Bill! I use the bar at 0:12, otherwise it's the old-fashioned bends. :) I do see now that I should have left more breathing spaces in last half part of my track, but..

I gotta say, you have a put up a real tasty piece! Wonderful tone, and just all around very cool note-choices! Love it.
And that goes for the rest of the guys that have posted theirs so far. It's interesting to hear everybody's take on this -- a bunch of really cool ideas. Nice work, folks -- I'm impressed!

And Vetteboy, thanks a lot for taking your time to doing this for us! :) edit: do lemme know if I must record the solo over again. It could definitely be better!

What a cool collaborative! I can't wait to hear the finished product.

Musical group hug. Awwwwww.

Pinky, there's still time to join the collab. :)

Not fantastic (my hands have been acting up lately), but I got it pretty okay.

What a headache it was though.. Ran the Heartfield Talon II into my regular pedalsetup, then into the Marshall DRP-1 preamp, then into my Alesis Quadraverb GT for chorus, reverb and delay, then into a Behringer mixer and into my PC... Complexity rules, lol :D

Re: Collaboration Track - 12 Bar Blues

OK, I updated the list - we're at 10 entries now.

I'm gonna be on vacation in South Carolina for the next week, so after I get back from that I'll start thinkin about putting everything together.

Great contributions so far!

Thanks! I just recorded a clean Silent Night video and was putting in clean takes on this but felt the need to get that amp crankin.
