Combining EMGs with Fire Blackouts/ BMP-1?

Hey guys, I'm wondering something which I can't find the answer for anywhere online:

I love the EMG FT telecaster neck pickup and I'm looking for the ideal bridge pickup for an HS Tele I've built. I'm considering the EMG 57 but I'm not sold yet. I also love the JB tone and so I'm tempted by the LW-Must livewires but I don't want to spend £200 on a set of pickups and just put the neck pickup in a draw!

This leads me to my question about the BMP-1: Can pickups using the blackouts preamp be mixed with other active pickups like EMGs or is it a no-go?

Not really... not in a way that would make sense and not have huge draw backs when combining pickups. BTW the JB and BMP1 dont sound that great together. If it was me i would go with the 57's they are pretty cool and ran at 18v's are much more dynamic than 81's

Ah okay - thanks for the advice! Maybe one day I'll come across some secondhand Mustaine Livewires, haha. I've seen someone use 24v with EMGs before, too...

Yeah they can handle up to 28v... but above 18v's the added headroom is minimal. They hit diminishing returns pretty quick
