Comments on the gt12ax7c preamp tube

I like Electroharmonix and the gt12ax7m tubes the best so far in my Dual rectifier and just purchased a couple of gt12ax7c tubes on the net. Just wondering about the tonal differences in these 3 tubes? Thanks for your input.

Thanks. Any Duncan forum input from users would be appreciated as well although this link is killer.

The C in the Groove Tubes tube type signifies a Chinese tube.
I've used both the M (Mullard re-creations) and the C tubes, and have found that the M's sound great in my Rivera, but the C sounds better in my Engl preamp.
The Mullard is warmer sounding, and injects some warmth into the otherwise too-clean clean channel of the Rivera.

What tube has more gain? I will be using it in my dual rectifier and I bought a peavey rockmaster I will use as well

They both have the same amount of gain, to my ears. The C tubes have an edginess to them that the M's do not ... the M's are smoother sounding, more laid back. I would say that they both break up at the same point, tho.

Qualitatively speaking, the C would probably seem to have more gain, but I bet the Mullard reissue meters higher.
