Compatibility with Epi 50SR - have Stag Mag

Hey guys. Just picked up an Epiphone Elitist Les Paul. I've had one before and actually like the pickups pretty well. They use two different ones in the bridge - one about 13 or 14k and one closer to 9. I prefer the 9. The necks is around 8k. I think the neck is basically a Classic 57 and the hotter bridge a 498. At any rate, this one has had the bridge replaced with a Stag Mag in the bridge and the original Epi/Gibson in the neck. For starters the neck is covered, the bridge open. Beyond that I've no interest in coil splitting and I'm not crazy about the high output of the Stag Mag. In fairness they sound really nice in the middle position.

I've probably answered my own question but it's regarding polarity/magnet. Either they are compatible or I like them incompatible. :-) I want something open but don't care for the Seth Lovers I've owned. The Antiquity was better but wrong for this guitar. The Seth Lover sounded kind of "wiry" in the two I've had one in. Like an overly exposed top end. Want openness and harmonics but no sizzle. Also enough bottom to have some guts without being bloated with distortion. Actually I play clean and semi clean a lot but like to open it up at times. Thoughts on the orientation and suggestions? Getting too old to drop big bucks on real high end stuff although I do have a set of Wolfetones hanging around....
