complete ibanez overhaul

Ive got around 350 USD to spend on my ibanez.

Im thinking about the following items:
Hipshot tremsetter
Planet Waves Auto-trim Locking Tuners
Graphtech saddles
Graphtech nut
Amber Speed Nobs
Cream Humbucker Ring
Not sure about neck pup but im going with full shred bridge (reverse zebra).

I figure its a better idea to make my ibanez something special rather than buy a new guitar which ill still end up spending my dosh on modifying.
From what ive heard, the tremolo should stay well in tune, and im pretty sure this will look really good with the quilted maple body.

any ideas or opinions are appreciated.

none of this is finalized so if im making a bad decision TELL ME!

You were a bad decision! *Shakes fist*

Just kidding. Sounds awesome :) Can't wait to see it.

Re: complete ibanez overhaul

I would suggest skipping the Hipshot tremsetter. All it does is make the trem stiff as hell. Not a very good item at all. The other items seem quality though!

i am not very fond of the Full Shred myself... what kind of sound are you after?

Totally agree about the Hipshot.. if you are wanting to stabilze the bar just block it, overwise leave it as is IMO. The Hipshot kinda sucks from my experience.

im after an opeth type sound with the full shred. i want to still use my tremolo, blocking it is out of the quesiton. I figure the locking tuners, graphtech nut and saddles will keep it in tune a lot more than the dodgy stock ones do.

Re: complete ibanez overhaul

Forget the Hipshot tremsetter. It doesn't work well on Floyds, in my opinion. If you wat to block the trem, Floyd Rose now sells a $15 trem stop which I like alot.

I gutted my Ibanez. All that is left stock is the neck. I have an RG 570. I found a green sparkle Ibanez body on Ebay. Bought the body, replaced trem with a gold Floyd Rose Pro, tuners with gold Gotoh tuners, gold covered JB/Jazz, as well as a gold pickup cover for the SSL-1, all gold pickup rings, knobs, CTS pots, Floyd Rose trem stop, switchcraft 5 way switch.

The guitar sounds better than my $1400 Music Man Axis.

whatever you do GET THE PLANET WAVES TUNERS! I just installed a set on my ibanez (s2120) and they are amazing. I originally bought them for easier string changes and better precision but i've found that i dont need to use the locking nut anymore. Also mine were an exact fit from the gotoh tuners that came stock.

Re: complete ibanez overhaul

it all sounds good to me, i love the full shred, amazing pickup, you wont regret it.

Re: complete ibanez overhaul

Personally, I am a big fan of the Full Shred! I think it is a wise choice.

Re: complete ibanez overhaul

Go with Sperzel locking tuners...my buddy has a set of the Planet Waves, and they're somewhat cheaply made (he broke two installing them), and look like crap, IMO.
