confused Dimebucker install

went ahead and install a Dimebucker in my Jackson. When I mounted the pickup in the guitar i noticed that the pickup ring that came with the pickup was angled (like you might use on a les paul) not flat like all other rings. Since its a strat type guitar with a floyd it doesn't look right, the pickup is going to be higher from the strings on one side. Is this normal? or should i use a normal pickup ring?( the ring is rounded on the corners to mold with the pickup) wondering if i have to use this ring? I put some pics so you can see. Thank you

You can use a normal ring, but there will be some gaps around the pickup. If you are feeling adventurous you could sand the ring level.

I think that ring is meant for Les Paul/ Fixed Bridges. Sound will definitely be affected. Prob getting some more highs.

Re: confused Dimebucker install

do you know where I could buy a reg dime ring? would a BL 500XL ring work?

If you have a ring same as the one on the neck pickup you should be fine. Once you adjust the height of the pickups properly they will sound fine. Rings do not affect the tone, pickup height does.

Btw, is that a soloist with lightening bolt finish? I would love to see more clear photos of it.

Ya lightning bolt, when I get it back together I'll post some pics for you.

Re: confused Dimebucker install

seems like it would fit in a normal flat pickup ring

got the guitar back together, I decided to hold off on the Dime and put in a X2N. So far so good, well behaved for such a high output pickup. So far like it much better than the Invader. Lows are almost as good but highs kill the Invader. anyway took some pics of the jackson for you to see, just iphone pics hopfully you like them. thanks for all the info.
