Connectors or soldering only?

Hi!

For my next guitar surgery, I am planning to add connectors, to easily swap pickups in the future without further soldering. Anyone of you ever tried such a thing? Is there any known drawbacks?

Thanks!

Re: Connectors or soldering only?

I've done a Molex connector to swap out entire loaded pickguards. It connects the ground and jack to the pickguard. I've also used the Liberator, which allows new pickup swaps with just a screwdriver.

None that I can think of. I don't swap out pickups enough to try that but should be easy enough.

Re: Connectors or soldering only?

If your guitar is a test bed for endless pickup trials I can see the point. Otherwise not.

One of my Strats gets one of three or four loaded pick guards switched in whenever I change strings; depends on how I feel. Haven't gotten around to doing it yet, but connectors are a good idea; just need one to ground and one to hot.
