Considering two dofferent delays.

I wat a good delay pedal and am thinking of the boss DD-6 or marshalls echohead delay. One of the main considerations is being able to use said pedal in my amps effects loop. I know from earlier experiance that analog effects do not work well in my loop because it runs at line level and when i had the boss ce-5 it did fine just not as sweet as an analog chorus pedal like my beloved mxr. I am thinking that i can run the boss delay in the effects loop but iam not so sure about the marshall. I have heard some clips of the mashall pedal and like the analog simulation (weather it sounds excatly like analog i don't know) which the boss does not have so i think i may like it somewhat better than the boss. Not to mention it has a few more varietys of delay I am unsure of how it will work in my rectos effects loop. If anyone has any insight i would be most appreciative.

I personally like any delay or other modulation effect in the loop, no matter what. I've owned a Boss DD-20 in the past, and I don't think I'll be able to consider any other delay once I'm able to build a serious rig again.

Analog chorus in effects in my amps loop get overloaded, ut since i did not have that trouble with a boss chourus pedal (digital) i think its a sure bet that the boss delay will be the same. Not sure about the marshall delay pedal although it is digital as well.

I have a DD6, and I'm seriously considering selling it and getting a Line6 delay. We'll see.

(I just bought the thing in Sept., and it probably only has 15 hours of play time:smack: )

Yeah, I've been reading a lot of positive posts in this forum about the Line6 echo and reverb pedals, and I know they also make a DL-4 delay module that's right up there at the top as far as quality goes. Here's a link to the Line6 pedal soundbytes

I can't always get what I want without too much effort. Since I frequently have to make changes on the fly, that sometimes irritates me.

For the last month, I've been covering what used to be two electric guitar parts. That requires me to make QUICK adjustments, and I'm out of practice.

I think the delay is fine, but sometimes I want it to do things that I either don't know how to get, or it won't do. I'm still studying that problem.

After I get my Verbzilla I'll be in a better position to decide whether to keep it.

I've got a Digitech Digidelay, and I love it. It's obviously not analog, but has a tape delay setting that's really cool, a reverse delay that's just weird, and the loop function is a lot of fun.

One of my favorite things is that there are three different settings for the digital delay. 1st is 1-250ms, then 250ms-1sec, then 1-4sec. That way, you get a lot of adjustment with the delay time control.

I use a Line 6 Echo Park for longer Delay effects, and a Rocktron Short-Timer, both in the EFX loops of my Mesa Amps. Both pedals work well.

I know a LOT of guys who have three (OR MORE) delay pedals on their boards.

I use a Line 6 Echo Park for longer Delay effects, and a Rocktron Short-Timer, both in the EFX loops of my Mesa Amps. Both pedals work well.

I know a LOT of guys who have three (OR MORE) delay pedals on their boards.

Have you had any trouble with the echo park being noisy on high gain settings on your amp? Also Is there a jump in volume when you engage the effect. I ask these things as that is what some of the musicians reviews said and so that made me kind of leary of it. No written reviews on the marshall echo head though.

I have a Boss and a DigiTech. Both sound awesome to me, but the Boss is a lot more refined. For reverse settings, you have to time your playing to the DigiTech, but the Boss responds immediately to your playing. But I like using both at different times, since I can get so many cool sounds with some tweaking of the knobs.

With the Mesas, you HAVE get your EFX Loop send and return levels correct. With my Maverick and my DC-3, as I understand it, you want the EFX very WET, and the use just a small amount of the amp's MIX control.

I haven't noticed the noise and the jump in volume, but both of these pedals are very new to me.

Frankly, I think the Short-Timer is a MUST HAVE pedal. Don't know what I did without it!

Try searching for Guitarist and Total Guitar magazines. They have both done very favourable reviews on the Echo Head.
