I want to take a TB4 jb and an SH2N jazz and direct-mount them into my MIA FR Classic Strat, which has a swimming-pool route. How do I do this?

Re: Converting a guitar to direct-mount for pickups

Mkay a few Q's....

1. Does the block have to be alder? (tonal concern)

2. How do I attach the block in? Glue? (tonal concern)

3. Routing's easy enough, but how do I know how high or low to route it out? (how-to concern)

4. Is this reversible? (hope-i-don't-f/up-my-guitar concern)

Re: Converting a guitar to direct-mount for pickups

it's not!

if you just want direct mount pickups & will keep the pickguard; all you need to do is glue a block of wood to the bottom of the cavity, get some pickup springs (you probably have rubber tubing on them now) appropriate screws & voila! direct mount pickups!! keep in mind you may want keep the screw holes in the pickguard for height adjustment (you can slip a very small screwdriver through with little trouble)
