Converting to MP3

I'm using Cakewalk Music Creator Pro24 and for a while it let me convert my files to MP3's so I could share with all of you blokes. Now the free trial is done with and I'm wondering if there's a FREE way to convert these Cakewalk files to MP3's. I just finished redoing some work, wrote a new song, and am in progress in one of the forum jams... but now I need help!

Re: Converting to MP3

Interesting, I'll see what I can do with that... I know it's on my computer somewhere!

EDIT : Hacker, I don't exactly see what you mean... It won't even let me import the file over to iTunes... because it's still a Cakewalk file. :blackeye:

Re: Converting to MP3

Thanks Stevo, but when I get into the "Convert Files" area - it only allows me to convert MP3, WAV, or MP3PRO files. I think Cakewalk made their files a special way, thus the label Cakewalk files, which doesn't allow me to convert it unless I pay them directly. Bastards? If this proves to be true - yes.

Anyone with Cakewalk experience?

Re: Converting to MP3

I use Sonar (cakewalks big brother). Export your song as a wave file and then use music match to convert the wave to mp3. Now I am not sure you're software has the ability to export, check in by clicking on "FILE" on the top.
Good luck.

Re: Converting to MP3

If it doesn't work, you could serach for "lame mp3 encoder". thats what I have.

Re: Converting to MP3

Guitarist, on my new Mac Mini, iTunes has an option to "convert current selection to MP3". Its in the advanced menu. But i guess if you cant import it to iTunes, then you'd have to get into a file format that is iTunes friendly.
