Cool new Eastwood guitar coming soon

Most Eastwood guitars don't really appeal to me all that much. But they're just about to release a copy of that oddball Grand Funk guitar. I always kind of wondered what Mark Farner was playing.

Limited Edition production run will be available in Greenburst or Cherry only, they start shipping in early April 2008.

Actually, I'd rather have it in black.

Throw a couple fullsize humbuckers in there...

Nice looking axe bro.

Looks weird with the toggle on the lower bout instead of the upper tho...

I actually dig the green burst. Sweet!

Re: Cool new Eastwood guitar coming soon

Probably'd be a decent slide guitar. Good access to the upper frets. They don't mention it in the description, but I think it's only 21 frets.

I saw that but the appeal (IMO) of a Messenger is the aluminum core...the Eastwood uses maple...I give it an E for effort but not much else.

I didn't realize the original had an aluminum core. Eastwood probably can't do things like that. I think they're kind of restricted by what their factories in Asia normally build.

I heard similar complaints about their copy of that fiberglass National/Supro guitar.

It'd probably cost a lot more to copy these guitars faithfully.

Re: Cool new Eastwood guitar coming soon

It would cost a mint to do a rel clone of a Messenger. I have looked for one of those guitars for years and have still never found one! Anyway in answer to what you said...yes the original Messenger guitars were built based on aluminum and also had a (nasty!) built in fuzztone!

There was a recent write up in a recent guitar mag (GP, or GW or VG or???) I'll dig it up and let you know...you might be able to still catch the issue, it's that new!
