Cool Pedal Mods?

People are so quick to post their guitar modifications online, but very rarely do you see people post about their pedal mods. I know most of this is because pedal mods are more difficult and therefore less common, but it might be cool to spread some ideas.

I just recently finished moving the guts of my Script Phase 90 RI into a Dunlop Cry Baby. The core of the mod is that I can control the speed with my feet. It's not the most radical mod in the world, but it allows me to make lead playing more dynamic.

Re: Cool Pedal Mods?

That's actually a cool idea, and I can see the usefulness of controlling the speed like that. I've done kit mods to pedals before and BYOC stuff, and also want to rebuild my early 80s Crybaby with a quieter circuit.

Re: Cool Pedal Mods?

Most of the pedal mods I've done is swapping out clipping diodes and op-amps in overdrive pedals, also changing resistor and cap values for accentuating different frequencies.

Re: Cool Pedal Mods?

That's awesome.

Aside from some fun wah stuff most of my pedal mods are more to clean up noise etc.

Re: Cool Pedal Mods?

I've modded my DL4 to put in good switches, and more importantly, blue LEDs.

Re: Cool Pedal Mods?

Pedal mods might be more difficult in theory... But I think a lot of learning curve is removed because people tend to just do random **** to pedals and claim an improvement, or or otherwise just cop textbook mods. That includes certain 'boutique' pedal manufacturers- some of them really seem on the "trial & error" path.

Re: Cool Pedal Mods?

I'm still waiting for parts to do my first mod. Ordered them from the US, when they came, seller had missed several components. Still waiting for them to arrive. Not too happy about it, obviously.

Re: Cool Pedal Mods?

I like vacuum tube pedals and I have a few. I always mostly change out the 12AX7 for a 5814A (military grade 12AU7)

I had also modified a BK butler/Tube Works pedal to use an octal 6SL7 tube.
