Cool Rails: How cool is it exactly?

The sound samples sound damn tasty, and I am thinking of putting one in the bridge position of my Strat (neck and middle pickups are normal American Standard Strat pickups). I've used Hot Rails before and while it sounded nice and fat, the compression and sheer amount of output was ridiculously out of balance with my other pickups. My question is this: Will the Cool Rails be too cool for hard rocking in the bridge position or will it have at least PAFish amount of hotness?

Re: Cool Rails: How cool is it exactly?

The Cool Rails is only "cool" relative to the Hot Rails. It has a nice punch and character that is unique in the Duncan line. I can't imagine that you won't like it. If anything, it will overpower the other pups . . . in a good way.

Re: Cool Rails: How cool is it exactly?

Unless I'm imagining things, the Cool Rails were made because so many people liked the Hot Rails, but round them overpowering and a little too hot and stuff, so the Cool Rails were born. I imagine you'd be one of those people who would have liked the Cool Rails to be made then.

Re: Cool Rails: How cool is it exactly?

Nope, I wasn't imagining it. This is on the Cool Rails description.

Created by popular demand, Cool Rails™ use the same twin coil design as our Hot Rails™, but are wound to produce a clearer, brighter, and more dynamic sound

It's cool like Fonzie - Ayyyyyyyyy!:bigthumb:

Aceman, have you been drinkin'? :)
The Cools Rails is not cool like the name implies just cooler than the Hot like Artie said. Dont worry it will still handle all your rock needs, its a great pickup.

Re: Cool Rails: How cool is it exactly?

The CR is one of my favorite SD pickups. You should be able to control it in relation to your s/c pups.

I say, "Go fer it!"

Re: Cool Rails: How cool is it exactly?

I find it a little hotter and thicker than a PAF but with a similar tone, however I've only tried the neck pickup. I don't think it sounds too much like a single coil, probably more like a mix of a single coil's punchiness with the thickness of a humbucker. Not vintage, not modern, a good all-around pickup.

Re: Cool Rails: How cool is it exactly?

I think of it as the Hot Rails Lite, which is a good thing. I admit I've never owned a bridge CR, but the neck CR is almost the perfect neck pickup for an HS or HSS combo. That's assuming you want a beefy single type sound.

Re: Cool Rails: How cool is it exactly?

The cool rails is not a pickup. If you order the cool rails you will get a bee smoker, which is what beekeepers use to keep bees out of their way (also, macaw poachers in the amazon use them in the small cliffs where macaws nest to drive out the bees and other insects which would otherwise sting them).

Ok ,so is that a pro or a con ? :)
I know I dont really like bees around me.

Well this description just sealed the deal, I'll find me one ASAP. :biglaugh:
