From what I've heard the cool rails is similar to a lil '59, so if your looking for a PAF sound, should be OK

Not talking about mainstream but for examle Funky Groove or Scofield kind of sound... I play a lot of Miles Davis too but try to do the pieces in more modern way.. You know, I don't want Gibson ES sound, only warm full jazzy sound.. Oh! My guitar is MIU 84 Strat.. You have the details, so what is the final answer?
BTW: You use Planet Waves cables.. are they good??

If you have the touch and tone and phrasing and everything else needed to play Jazz in you, then the Cool Rails will sound excellant. Lew

I personally love the Cool Rails' tone. I used to have one of these in the neck position of my good ol' Samick (mahogany body/maple neck/rosewood fretboard/Floyd Rose etc.). Recently sold the guitar, the pickup is waiting for the next one... :32:
I'd describe it's tone as being a nice blend between single-coils and humbuckers. It has nice attack (single-coil-like), but a warm bottom and also warm highs. It doesn't have that sometimes unpleasent compression of the regular humbuckers, it has nice dynamics instead. For me, it's certainly a keeper.

Yes, absolutely. I have 3 hot rails in my strat and I'm going to put either cool rails in the neck and middle or go with 3 little 59's. The rails are definitely warm and fat. The cool rails are hot with the clean bite that you want
