Cool Sound

I have never been happy with a neck humbucker. Personally, sounds like ass.

So......my charvel has a 59 in the neck. Un-soldiered the white + red wires, mated the black and white and red went to the hot lead on the switch.

1000% improvement in sound. Sounds really good for volume backed off clean parts. Really chime/bell like.

I know some of you are gonna say add a switch or a pull type volume pot so you can switch back and forth.....total pain when you are playing live to go from the quite clean parts to the heavy stuff. I can barely manage the 3-way switch and the volume on the guitar!!!!

Someday, maybe, a pull volume pot to do the same thing to the bridge.

For now, my cheap ass 700 jap made charvel sounds KILLER

Re: Cool Sound

If you rewire it in parallel, you get basically the same sound, a little thicker, but you keep the hum-canceling.

Re: Cool Sound

Yeah, I am seriously thinking of turning my Super Distortion into a neck pickup by wiring it in parallel. I also put an A5 in it.

Re: Cool Sound

I have a 59n in my Epi LP, it has the single wire with braided ground, how could I rewire the pup to do this? Or is it even doable ?

I imagine you would have to dis-assemble the pickup and access where the individual wires are coming off the coils....basically take one coil out of the equation, but I have no experience with that.

Re: Cool Sound

I have an A3 RC Mag coming will try that and see if it tames a little, I think you are right but will have to hook black to black and white to white to put the coils in paralell rather than in series?
