Cool Video - Alex Skolnick with Belly Dancers

I had lunch with Alex a couple of days ago in NYC and he told me about this video. I checked it out and I think it's pretty cool. He's such an interesting player in that he has enjoyed success both in the metal world with Testament and in the jazz world with his trio.

Check it out.

yeah, that's a cool video. I'd seen it linked on his site, and I was surprised at the low number of views then; hopefully this will give it a good bump!

I figure this kinda stuff happens in NY all the time, hehe

Re: Cool Video - Alex Skolnick with Belly Dancers

That's totally awesome!!

Skolnick is a huge influence on me. His sense of phrasing, rhythm and melody are so perfect, and always interesting, regardless of what style he's playing.

Hail Skolnick! (also, thanks for posting that Evan :) )

Kick ass! Alex rocks. Enjoyed watching him recently take part in GWAR's Crack-a-thon.

fun homage to the run dmc - aerosmith mash up from back in the day

Re: Cool Video - Alex Skolnick with Belly Dancers

I am always curious about the Benedetto pickups that SD makes and wonder if Alex ever toyed with the idea of ever throwing them in one of his guitars.

Re: Cool Video - Alex Skolnick with Belly Dancers

Interesting. I've never discussed the Benedetto pickups with Alex. He's pretty much a JB / '59 guy. I'm sure he might like the Benedetto P.A.F. in the neck position. But there's no Benedetto pickup that comes close to the JB for output.

Re: Cool Video - Alex Skolnick with Belly Dancers

Yeah makes sense. I was rocking the '59/JB combo for a while and it's pretty much one of the best out there.

AH, that's Metal Sanas! One of her dancers is the wife of a friend of mine.

So, DankStar -- in this case, the answer is yes. :)
