Could I put a PATB...

Could I put a PATB in my PRS SE Tremonti, I mean would it line up right and look ok, I really want to know because many people have spoke of PATB pickups in seriously high regard and I'm tempted to try one, but I don't know if it will fit in my guitar as I'm only young I can't really afford more than one fairly decent guitar, so I don't have any tremolo equiped guitars any input would be great thanks in advance.

The dimensions should be on the PATB page for depth of pickup and W x L. You just need to measure your guitar to see if the routed slots are big enough. The PATBs I've bought have all come with their own pickup ring.

Re: Could I put a PATB...

I used a JB trembucker in PRS SE custom for a while had no trouble, actually the spacing was a lot closer to the one in the bridge than the one on the SH-5 I installed afterwards, but neither one was an exact match.

my 2 cents

Re: Could I put a PATB...

The PATBs can be a bit thicker in fixed bridges. Some people like them in Les Pauls, it's all a matter of taste.

Which PATB(s) are you thinking about, and for what sort of music?

Re: Could I put a PATB...

mainly metal is what I play I'm gonna stick with my dimarzio axis pup for the neck, but I just wanna play about with bridge tones for abit, I got an Invader and it will always be my goto tone but I wanna test the waters is all so I wanna try a PATB-2.

Re: Could I put a PATB...

PATB-2 strikes me as somewhere between an Invader, a conventional Distortion, and a JB. Riffs like an Invader, but a bit tighter like a Distortion, but with less of a grating presence (though it's got enough that you can get there, just turn the presence up a little on the amp). Sings more like a thicker JB for leads.

In a brighter guitar, I like it much better than the Distortion, and it works with less difficulty for more styles than the Invader, despite covering some of the same ground. In a guitar where the Distortion has enough bass/low mids, the PATB-2 can be overkill for some players.

Not to knock the Invader, with the right setup it's killer.

I love some of the things the Parallel Axis design does, nothing else feels like them. I needed something less compressed, more suited to a broader range than the PATB-2, so wound up with a PATB-1b, but I was badly torn for quite a while making the decision. Still want a PATB-2... :)

Re: Could I put a PATB...

The main reason I'm asking bout the PATB is its supposed to be a really unique pickup in terms of tone, its like the Invader in the way that there aren't many pickups like it if any.
