Couple `o my Marshalls on the bay

Re: Couple `o my Marshalls on the bay

The head box on that 2205 is not original. The box is from an early 90s model 6100 30th Anniversary head which was originally issued in blue tolex. I can tell the box is from one of these amps for several reasons. First of all, the 6100 was the only production Marshall ever offered in blue. Second, Marshall discontinued gold caps on their amp handles in 1983 with the exception of the 30th Anniversary models. Last of all the box is top-vented which Marshall did not do on any of their 50 watt amps. The 6100 is 100 watts which would have a top-vented box.

Sorry to burst your bubble there, but I figured you'd want to have accurate information for your auction.

Heya Dys,
Thanks for that information. Everything you said does make sense, especially the top vent part. The guy I bought the amp from (local chap who's disappeared lately) did say he'd replaced the handle, but didn't say anything about the box not being original. The vent placement also does lend itself to a 100 watt configuration. I got the amp for a steal of a price, but did ask him a bunch of questions. Possibly he didn't know about the case? I dunno........
