I used my friends gibson les paul studio for my show yesterday and it sounded AMAZING!!!

the only problem is theyre like over $1000 new.

so my questions are

-What guitar matches the sound of a Gibson LEs Paul Studio?
-What is the cheapest you think i could find one used?

thanks

Re: Couple of questions, need your help

epiphone lp's are ok....okish...they are bad, but gibson studios are the cheapest of the gibson lp lineup, so maybe you could get like a tokai or something for a few dollars cheaper.

but used:
gibson-999.00
tokai-700
both halves of an epiphone body-200
epiphone neck-200
the headstock that broke off of the epiphone neck-50

The wood of an Epi is inferior to a Gibby for sure. But for the money, it sounds really fantastic - well, after you change eveything on it (electronics, pups, hardware, etc.). But in my opinion, you'd have to do that to a Gibby too, so it's a wash.

?? 1k for a studio used??? That sounds excessive, I see them going for 650-750ish all the time on Fleabay .....

IMO it´s better to get the real thing used than to get a cheap knockoff new, becaseu the studio will almost certainly have better woods and therefore be the better iinvestement in the long run, both tonally and financially....
