Covered vs. uncovered pickups. Where is that FAQ or Article?

hey guys,
I remember a while back there was a talk about Covered VS. Uncovered pickup and someone said there is an article or maybe it was a posting/FAQ was someone at SD about that.

Anybody know where I can find it?

Basicly i wanted to know what effect it has on the overall tone? I know it'll increase the output of the pickup. But how about tone?

Thanks

Don't know where the article is but I can tell you from direct experience as a player and now a winder that the effect on tone depends on what the cover is made of -- on the inside, not the coating. If it's nickel-silver, the effect will be practically nothing. If it's brass, it's a tone-killer.

Hey man.. thanks for the info.

Its a Duncan distortion bridge with a Golden colour cover on it. not sure what its exactly made of. But when I ordered the pickup from Black rose Custom, I had them order it from Seymour Duncan with the cover pre-installed.

So what do you think it could be?

Thanks

its mostly for looks, but yeah it does have a tonal differnce, i think if you want that nice vintage tone you want them covered, like they were back than, but than thats just what i recall from some previous thread about this not too long ago, id use the search and find it, they guy got a pretty good idea at the end.
