has anyone got a strat with covered humbuckers? if so, how's it sound? I'm contemplating it, to warm out my Pearly Gates bridge a bit and to add the bass-mid to my A2P. It is after all, used primarily for blues an Jazz. How would it go? Opinions/ideas/experience requested!

Eric Bell of Thin Lizzy had covered humbuckers on his main Stratocaster. Trying to judge the tonal effects from early Lizzy recordings is tricky, however, because the sound engineering on those first few albums left much to be desired.

The effect's the same as with any other guitar I guess.

A couple of months back a friend wanted his Strat to look a bit like George Lynch's GL-56 ESP, and he had already heard the uncovered PG I had in my Strat and liked it, so he went ahead and ordered a covered PG and a pickguard that would fit it. I installed it and it sounded really nice. I can't really compare to my Strat since they're pretty different, mostly that mine's a hardtail rosewood fretboard and his is a vibrato maple fretboard.

Still had that nice sizzle with the round top end. Sweet but rude, just like the SD description.
