CRATE AMplifers

Im looking into buying a crate amp in the next 2 months.. so i wanna get this straight, i tried looking on the crate site and comparing the
GTX 212
and the
GT 212 but i dont kno what the differnce is, the gtx is 50 dollars more, but which amp is better..?

BTW im planning on buying effects pedals...

doesnt the X one have an onboard reverb .. no idea though

both have reverb, all i can really find is that hte GTX has effects built in but the GT doesnt..

To be honest, I'd stay away from any of the Crate SS stuff (and most of the tube stuff too). I would instead look into something used from the Transtube Peavey line.

I've played on the Crate GLX line, and I thought it sounded really good for a beginners amp. Much better than the Marshall MG's, and about comparable to the ValveStates.

I have not had experience with those two amps but, I have had experience with crate. In my opinion, avoid it like the plague. There customer service is horrible, I am not crazy about their durability either. Go with peavey in my opinion. They are ROCK solid and their tone has come a very long way!!!

I've got a Crate Blue Voodoo that I have had ZERO problems with. I dont live far from thier manufacturing site, so any work I may want done is really cheap and with no hassle. I've called Crate several times and NEVER have had any problems, but that's just my experience.

I just bought a mint used Crate 4x12 and its sweet.

Stay away from the peavey transtube crap.

Peavey 5150's and xxx's rock but the transtube stuff sucks. I have a peavey bandit 112 and its a POS.

Of course a bandit sucks!!! My XXL is trans tube but, it sounds GREAT (an exception to the rule).

oops! sorry, forgot about the XXL's. I heard they were pretty good amps. And the ones i've heard other people play sounded pretty good (never got to play one myself though).

WEll i would like a tube amp but there alot more expensive and i dont make money to fast but is there any really good amps like marshalls or boogies or maybe peaveys, that would stay withing my ranger of cash 500-800 dollars Canadain

oops! sorry, forgot about the XXL's. I heard they were pretty good amps. And the ones i've heard other people play sounded pretty good (never got to play one myself though).

I highly recomend. If I had to chose between ,my XXL and my JCM900 marshall, I would go with the XXL.

I play a gfx120.. yes, ss.... but i think it rocks... I've used this live alot over the past 3 yrs and had zero prob's. Much easier than carrying a stack around as well.

For $500-$800CAD you could probably find a used Peavey 5150. You should also be able to find some Fender amps in about that price range. Try browsing EBay.ca to see what comes up in that price range.

What sound do you want? Rock, Hard Rock, Metal, Punk?

What're some bands sound similar to the tone you're after?

i got a used CRATE VC30 last year, and have had 0 problems, and CRATE was super helpful the 2 times i called trying to find out more info...

Im a metal head so im gonna be playing stuff like metallica, megadeth, pantera, Children of bodm... that kind of stuff... and would it sound good with my guitar too i got Jackson CHarvel model A with SD Live wire HM pickups
