Re: Crate Blue Voodoo mods?

I did the disappearing mod on mine. When it reappeared it was a Marshall.....LOL.

In other words, I sold it off because it was a big POS (fried the PCB 3 times) and it was an older model, like first or second production year model. Never again will I own a BV. AFAIK, there aren't any mods for that amp.

Same here. The thing was a POS and sauter joints always came off and everything.

Re: Crate Blue Voodoo mods?

I am wanting an older model JCM 800 to get the BLS tone, but heres the problem, I have the pedals Wylde uses and a friend of mine has an 800, but you have to have it really cranked before the gain comes through like it should. In other words, you can't play it at a modest level and get great distortion. That is one thing I love about the VooDoo amp is how much gain the second channel has. If I get a Marshall, is there any kind of gain bosting mods I can do?

Re: Crate Blue Voodoo mods?

Voodoo has the following information on their web site.

Crate Blue Voodoo Series: With the Deluxe-Mod you can step into the tones that would normally cost $2,500.00 or more! (only BV60s and BV120's)

$395.00 - Standard Crate Blue Voodoo Mod with 2-day Turn around time!

"Turn your Crate Blue Voodoo into the meanest tone machine on the planet!"

We remove the fuzzy/buzzy characteristics in favor or of gain that is more articulate/defined/clear.
We tighten up the bottom end so it's rock solid and never loose/tubby/woofy.
As make the clean channel cleaner/more airy/chimey/richer/open sounding as well as warmer.
We convert the amp over to adjustable bias (normally $49.95 extra) based on the tubes type you want to use (6L6 or EL34).
We balance out all the frequencies so the amp is more even sounding over all.
You can get more of a cranked tone at lower volumes as well as sustain.
The amp will be able to cut through the mix a lot better both live as well as in the studio.
Improve the harmonic structure so harmonics leap off from the fretboard with ease.
The EQ section will be more flexible over all.
You can get a cranked tone at lower volume levels (the clips on our site were recorded with the Master Volume on "1"). The amp will also sound great at higher volumes as well.
All features will still function the same and we do not add/remove any tubes nor do we drill any holes.
We do not modify the FX-Loop or the switching system, only the preamp and the power amp.
We will check the bias and make sure it's set properly.
Add-On Controls: We are not able to add on any extra controls as there is no physical room inside the amp to make that happen.
Voodoo Mods™ retain your amps resale value verses decreasing it.
Turn around times & rush service.
Deluxe Standard Mod: $624.00 Includes:

Standard Mod™
Custom Voodoo-Spec Mercury Magnetics output transformer (List Price $225.00)
Installation of Mercury Magnetics output transformer (List Price $50.00)

Yeah, make sure you're pushing the hell out of everything with a set of EMG's like Zakk uses too. That'll help. He also has his amps loaded with 6550 tubes which offers more headroom and a tighter sound.

Voodoo has Marshall mods to add more gain I believe. All ya gotta do is check out the web site and ask.

Re: Crate Blue Voodoo mods?

My Bandmate Modded his Marshall JCM 900 with a Power amp output knob!So he can dime the output back to get faster Power amp overdrive!Really sweet and works fine!
