Creamy, but sloppy. I have one of those older red Danelectro overdrive pedals, and it's been collecting dust for years - so I thought I'd bust it out and see what kind of tone I could get with it.

Whaddya think of the tone? Don't be afraid to crap on it if you think it's bunk. This is actually the first time I've messed with this riff, so the soloing is hack - really - just trying to get some sounds together.

Bye-Bye

I actually think it's an awesome tone. Sounds actually.. er.. Cream-ish to be honest. New cream, but mixed with the old. Just the actual riff is a tad off sometimes, namely the little diddly thing after each bar of the E riff (you know.. it goes.. bum bum BOW, dudle duh dudle duh, BOW WOW WHA WHEEE WOW WON, LOW LONNN)

..that last part was the widdly part.. its too early, and sometimes a bit too much vibrato sometimes.

Thanks Timmy. Yeah, my time is definetly off on this one. I'm going to start playing it (more). It's fun to play, especially with a really good drummer.

I'm playing an '05 Heritage 150 (les paul type) with seth lovers with a little cheapy (it was like $30.00) Danelectro pastrami? overdrive pedal through my little old Kay amp (all tube - unusual tubes, no longer in production with a 6 inch speaker) with the volume only a quarter of the way up.

This particular guitar with those pickups really gives up the goods I think. It's really touch sensitive, so I guess I got lucky!

Here's a question for everyone. Up until recently I've always used an SM57 to record my guitar parts. I've been using the built-in condenser mic on my Boss BR532 digital recorder and I love it. I really like to hear the sound of the room and some bloom. When I recorded this, it wasn't at a bedroom level, but definetly apartment friendly.

Who's using condenser mics on their amps, and what kind? I'm going to have to invest in one at some point I think.

Thanks.

Re: Cream tribute have a listen

the playing was pretty good, but just slightly off timing on a few notes.

but the tone is REALLY nice i think. Sounds real good bro

Re: Cream tribute have a listen

I didn't mind the timing issue 'cause the tone was great and the melody was fun -- it seemed to my ears like you were having a great time playing and it was just fun to hear.

Re: Cream tribute have a listen

Thank you for the kind words. That pedal is a pastrami overdrive. I'm going to have to bust it out at the jam this week and see how it sounds in a live situation.
