Cry Baby mod suggestions?

I opened up my old Cry Baby tonight to see what it is. Turns out to be an '89-'90 Rev. D - the last version with case-mounted jacks as opposed to the hated PC-mount. I'll mod it for true bypass, which is bound to be an improvement.

I know nothing of wah mods, though, especially inductors. Is the inductor is this pedal especially good or bad? Worth changing, or "good enough"? Any other mods to make this pedal a bit less generic and a little more classic-Vox-ish?

Look up crybaby mods and see which ones you think will fit best.

I did a small vocal mod, small mid boost (meaning not changing the values by much) and added a toggle so it can be wah or volume pedal. I'm planning on doing true bypass soon.

Hey Rich. Got your PM's but I'll reply here for everyone else too.

Definitely do the true bypass mod. Wah's are about the only pedal where I think it is absolutely necessary (and the orange Phasers but that's a different thread). Here's detailed instructions on how to make Rev. D true bypass, http://homepage.ntlworld.com/s.castledine/greenfuz/tb3.html.

After that, the voice (or vocal) mod is nice. Change the 33k resistor in parallel with the inductor to something like 47k or even 68k. I've also done the mid-boost mod and adjusted the pot. More info on those here, http://www.erikhansen.net/?page_id=30.

As for the inductor, it's the same one that was in mine, Rev. E board. I'm so glad I put the Area 51 inductor in. Sounds much better, even with the mods.

I'm not sure which parts on your board would be the ones to change but tracing through to the two resistors shouldn't be too hard. That circuit, and Rev. E, are very simple.

Just be careful with the iron temp. Those pads lift super easy. Trust me, I know. ;)
