Crybaby Isn't Crying Anymore

As the title suggests, my GCB-95 doesn't want to work. It turns on fine, but it constantly sounds like it's fully stuck on the back position. The footpedal moves around as it normally should, but it won't make any changes. I opened up the back and didn't see anything abnormal, I've tried powering it on DC and on battery, and neither fixes it. I can post pictures of it on request.

Could be a few things.

1. Make sure the bar with the teeth on it that's attached to the foot treadle is also connected to the gear on the pot.

If that looks good, then...

2. The pot may be bad.

I doubt it's the inductor. It might be a blown electrolytic cap. I know when one of them goes it acts as a volume pedal. To find this one you'll need to know how to troubleshoot electronics. Take a pic of the insides. I might be able to dig something up.

When the 4.7 mfd cap goes the wah becomes a volume pedal...When the inductor goes, the wah doesn't operate at all...No sound.

Re: Crybaby Isn't Crying Anymore

The fact that the toothed wheel and pot shaft are interlocking and turning together does not necessarily mean that the wiper and resistance track inside the pot are engaging correctly.

Is there any free play of the pot shaft vertically, in and out, along its own axis?

No free play to it at all in any direction.

Here's pictures:

Contact Dunlop. They'll be able to help. Without being able to take readings on it to hunt for a bad component, it makes it real hard to troubleshoot.
