Curiosity on the Jimmy Page style wiring for a Les Paul.

I was looking at the Jimmy Page wiring diagram and i noticed that there was a cap between the volume and tone pot. What does this necessarily do?!?!

The cap between each pair of Volume and Tone pots governs the cut-off frequency above which the tone control acts. Without it, the second pot would shunt all frequencies to ground - just like a volume pot does.

Thats the tone circuit cap.....all guitars with a tone pot have one.
